Expanded Description:

Woman’s Clubs, or Women’s Clubs, were originally founded by women in the early 1800’s due to the strict denial of women’s participation in a democratic civil society. Reading clubs, industrial unions, civil rights activism, and countless more important social, economical and political movements were organized by and for women of all cultures, races, and religions. Many Woman’s Clubs have historical significance due to the compelling history that they have played in their communities.

Today, Woman’s Clubs remain significant volunteer organizations for communities throughout the world. They have clear mission statements underscoring the importance and directives of maintaining and enforcing a moral standard within their communities and often the volunteers are immersed in positive community building activities, programs and legislation.

Woman’s Clubs are organized throughout the world and are operated independent of each other while maintaining a consistency in productivity and service to their communities. Whether organized in the 1880’s or the 1980’s, many of these clubs were known by the name Woman’s Club or Women’s Club. It is for the buildings of those Woman’s Clubs that this category has been created.

Instructions for Posting a Woman's Clubs Waymark:

The building must be an active Woman’s Club or Women’s Club and be identified as either a Woman’s Club or a Women’s Club, or must have a documented history as a Woman’s Club or Women’s Club as proven by a marker, plaque, sign or website.

The organization must have the term "Woman’s Club" or "Women’s Club" in the name to be a valid submission for this category. There are many noble woman-based organizations throughout the world who do amazing charitable work. This category is specifically for those that are called Woman’s Clubs or Women’s Clubs.

To create a new waymark, provide coordinates at the main entrance of the building with a GPS receiver. A minimum of two images are required: one of the building and a separate image of any physical identifier, such as a plaque, sign, or marker. If there is no longer a physical identification on the building but "proof" of the Woman’s Club existence is provided by a website, then this requirement for an image of the physical identifier is waived.

Please provide as much information as possible about the Woman’s Club. Any additional images of interesting architecture, artwork, or landscaping seen on the property that is managed by the Woman’s Club are welcome.

Name your waymark as follows:
Name - City, State for inside the US and
Name - City, Country for outside the US
Examples:
Chicago Women’s Club – Chicago, IL
Northwood American Women’s Club – Northwood, England

Please try not to use any special characters in your waymark names, just letters, numbers, commas, apostrophes, and dashes. This makes it easier to load waypoints into software.

Additional coordinates for physical projects created and managed by a Woman’s Club, such as gardens, libraries or teen centers, that are not on the same property as the Woman’s Club can be provided in the Long Description, however only actual structure sites for Woman’s Clubs are allowable and the projects themselves are not eligible as independent waymarks in this category.
