| Altus AFB C-141B "The Tube of Pain"
in Static Aircraft Displays This 141 is on display at Altus AFB, OK. She is kept next to the flight line she flew from for the last years of her service as a training bird, which by the way is not an easy life for a plane. It is the main reason she is on display here, for many years she spent teaching new pilots how to land until she was found to be structurally unsound. Because she could not safely fly away she was given a new life as a static display. posted by: 6Ks location: Oklahoma date listed: 4/10/2006 last visited: 12/10/2008 |

| Altus AFB, OK C-47 Skytrain
in Static Aircraft Displays This beautiful plane was refurbished by the A-team of Altus AFB in late 2001. It is located across the street from the golf course on base. I run past here 3xs a week or at least I am supposed to. ;) There are a lot of very famous planes from WWII but few have the longevity that this workhorse has. What a career flying the Hump, D-day, Berlin, Korea, and Vietnam. Something I discovered while I googled the tail # 349206 the C-47 registry did not have a photo of the refurbished plane.
