The Carolina Courage Soccer Team was the inspiration for this piece, which was placed at the SAS Soccer Park in December, 2004. The artists work for SAS Institute.

The overall height of this colorful structure is 26 feet. In-ground lighting provides illumination at night.
The land on which this artwork sits is State owned and is leased to Wake County, which has contracted with the Capital Area Soccer League to operate the facility. The Town of Cary owns and maintains the piece.
According to meeting minutes from the Cary Parks and Recreation Department (July 1, 2003), the inspiration for this piece was a local women's soccer team. Public Art Coordinator Nancy Novell explained, "It reflects the act of balancing different roles as mothers, players, role models, community volunteers, and spokespersons for their team. The balls are created in abstract to represent soccer balls."
This art was purchased and installed by the Cary Visual Art League. The planned installation date was April, 2004. However, it was not placed until December of that year.
To reach from Interstate 40 on the west side of Raleigh, take Exit 290 (NC-54/Chapel Hill Road). Go west 0.3 mile and turn left onto Trinity Road. Go south, and follow the road as it bends left in a large "S" curve. Cross the railroad track and turn right onto East Chatham Street (also known locally as Hillsborough Road). The entrance to the park will be on your left.
