This is one of the most popular locations in the park. There is a parking area and a paved trail that goes up and down through the gullies. One of the gems of the Petrified Forest National Park is the abundance of well preserved petrified wood with an abundance of colors due to varying amounts of trace minerals.

Camping is available only in the backcountry with a permit.
