The C.S. Bell Company was once a famous bell maker in Hillsboro, Ohio. This company produced thousands of bells for farms, schools, churches, and for the U.S. Navy. Although the company no longer exists its history is still celebrated every year by the city of Hillsboro during their "Festival of Bells."
This bell is the largest bell cast by the company, and was used in a parade during the town's centennial in 1907 and again at the celebration of the Sesquicentennial in 1957. During the war years it was used to sell bonds and finally to ring the glad tidings of peace.
