This monument stands in downtown Tarboro, North Carolina and stands in dedication to the Confederate soldiers of Edgecombe County. The monument depicts a Confederate soldier, with an inscription on the front face of the pedestal.
The inscription reads:
ERECTED IN HONOR OF
THE CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS
OF
EDGECOMBE COUNTY.
"DEFENDERS OF STATE SOVEREIGNTY."
Other faces of the monument depict Confederate insignia and dates related to the Confederacy (1861, 1865) and the date that the monument was erected (October 29, 1904).
