Elephant Car Wash's Neon Pink Elephant signs are landmarks in Washington State. The company started Washington's first automatic car wash in Seattle at this location on 4th and Lander. Owner Bob Haney talks about the elephant: "The reason for the elephant is they ran a contest in the community and someone came up with the idea. The original elephant went to 4th Avenue in Seattle. It doesn't rotate, but it's one of the larger ones." They expanded over the years and now have 8 locations in Western Washington. Elephant car washes now exist in Eastern Washington, Arkansas and California, also.
This location is in the industrial part of Seattle, South of Safeco Field. Although its sign is not as large and spectacular as the elephant at the downtown Battery Street location, she was the first sign and she's still a beauty.
