Nice Starbucks near the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria. Several chairs inside, with iron furniture (smallish round tables with chairs) outside to enjoy the scenery. Pastries (scones, muffins, etc.), cookies, and other snacks sold inside. Wireless internet access through T-Mobile HotSpot (paid subscription required) but the King Street corridor (from around St. Asaph to the water) has free wi-fi, as seen on the map here.

Decent sized store with chairs inside and out. Grab your coffee and a scone and head to the beautiful view of the Potomac, you should be able to see some of the DC landmarks to your left, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (perpetually under construction) to your right. You can also walk around and check out all the cool stuff Historic Old Town has to offer, including Gadsby's Tavern, Robert E Lee's boyhood home, and a lot more!
