This is definitely one of the most impressive waterfalls in North America. Framed by the canyon walls with forests as a backdrop, the Yellowstone River thunders 308 feet over Lower Falls.

There are many areas from which to view the falls. The most magnificent distant view is at Artist's Point [N44°43.276' W110°28.765]. There are also overlooks on the north side of the Canyon near to the trail head to the brink of the fall (see parking lot coordinates). Also, Uncle Tom's Trail [N44°42.928' W110°29.776], close to Artist's Point takes you down on a series of metal stairs almost to the bottom of the fall.

The most impressive view is directly at the brink, where every second an average of 37,417 gallons takes a 308 feet free fall. The trail to the brink is about 1/4 mile long and drops 600 ft in elevation.
