Railroad cars once traveled down the middle of the Lucky Strike plant, bringing tons of cured tobacco from the South to be made into cigarettes.

Where the trains once traveled, an enormous fountain and watercourse now runs.

Water begins to spill under one of the train sheds near the top of the site, then travels down a series of watercourses and raceways, around the Lucky Strike Water Tower and then finally cascades down the lower lever of the plant.

Smaller adjunct spillways and fountains add to the flow along the way. Materials from the renovation were used to create many of the features of this fountain. The total length of the water course is hundreds of yards.

The Lucky Strike Water Tower at the site is also a Waymark. There is a Geocache here as well, along with a USGS Benchmark.

To log your visit to this waymark, post your own photo of the waymark and leave some brief comments. Logs without photos will be archived. Thanks.

The start of the fountain under the old train shed:

Thousands of gallons of water travel down this raceway each minute:

Small waterfalls along the way add more water to the course:

Water flows around the water tower, then goes underground, finally spilling out at the plant's subbasement level:
