The main attraction of the observatory – the Main Planetarium – is placed in a dome measuring seventeen and a half metres in diameter, on which are projected around nine thousand stars, twenty nebulae and star clusters; and also a number of bodies from our own solar system being projected. The apparatus of the planetarium is able to depict the star sky at any time of the year from any place in the world.
The apparatus is further enhanced by a set of special projectors, which depict, among other things, Jupiter’s moons, the solar system viewed from the universe, a meteor shower and a comet by using various means; such as diaprojectors, data projectors, up-to-date acoustic and optical equipment. The apparatus is uniquely placed on a hydraulic platform, so that it can be, when needed, slipped into a lower space so that it will not obstruct the view of the visitor. A similarly formed multiple-projection is unparalleled in our republic with the exception of Prague; therefore, what the visitors will see is really extraordinary.
