At the northeast corner of SW 1st Avenue and SW Morrison Street is a historic site--The Oregonian Printing Press Park. The park is somewhat larger than Fagan's (Mill Ends Park) but does not have the sentiment attached to it as does the smallest park in the world. Nevertheless, it has particularly special meaning. Some years back a curious concrete structure stood there to mark the spot of The Oregonian newspaper's first printing press. For years this sculpture, executed by county employees with good intent, attracted few onlookers but plenty of neglect. Eventually the site was transformed into an appropriate memorial. The bollards, six of them, now contain the front pages of significant news events of national and regional interest. There are some intriguing stories on these pages.
To log a waymark, A photograph is required that shows you (or your GPS receiver, if you're waymarking solo) and the Printing Press Park sign.
