MARKER TEXT: British and Americans under Col. Henry Bouquet defeated the Indians here, August 5-6, 1763, during the Pontiac War, and lifted the siege of Ft. Pitt.
This sign is at the entrance to the Bushy Run Battlefield. The site is open from 9 to 5 on Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is Adults: $3.00, Senior Citizens & Groups: $2.50, Children Ages 6-17 $2.00. It is closed Monday and Tuesday. The battlefield features guided and self guided tours, a visitor center, and various activities throughout the year. After hours, parking is available three tenths of a mile east on 993 (coordinates N40º 21.285’ W79º 37.239’). In this lot there are several historical plaques and a nature trail. The lot is also close to the monument marking the location of the “Flour Bag Fort” (coordinates N40º 21.370’ W79º 37.337’), see photos. For more information on the Battlefield see the website below.
