BLM SINKHOLE 1961, UT, is a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) survey disk monumented within a wood rail fence that surrounds a sinkhole along the east side of Buckhorn Draw Road in Emery County, UT. The disk is mounted on the top of a two-inch pipe that projects about five inches. It is about 90 feet east of the centerline of Buckhorn Draw Road, about 40 feet northwest of the center of the sinkhole, about 36 feet north of a 4-inch x 4-inch wooden post that supports a sign “SINKHOLE”, 11.4 feet east of the centerline of an pull-off driveway, one foot south of a fence post, and 0.8 feet east of the lowest fence rail. The disk is listed in neither the NGS nor Geocaching databases. The disk is stamped (in its entirety): BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT PROJECT NO. U7-R-20 SINKHOLE NENE SEC 9 T22S R12E 1961. To reach from Green River, UT, get on Interstate Highway 70 at Exit 158 and go southwest on I-70 for about 29.1 miles to Exit 129. Leave I-70 at Exit 129 and turn right onto Buckhorn Draw Road. Go east and north on Buckhorn Draw Road for about 5.5 miles to the rail fence enclosure and the disk on the right. Recovery of this station was first logged at the Geocaching datasheet for intersection station GREEN RIVER UNION CARBIDE TANK, PID = JN0401.
