Skinners Butte Park is a 100 acre park that was dedicated in 1914.
It was the home of a CCC Camp location in Eugene, Oregon in the 1930's. Skinners Butte Park Link
When the CCC's camped here most of this area was a treeless grassland. Today it is a beautiful riverside park and tree covered butte, mostly due to the work done by the CCC's.
This is a quote from a government website. "Locally, the CCC was responsible for the construction of the 1938 Civic Stadium
on Willamette Street and the basalt walls and picnic areas in Skinner Butte Park.
Regionally, they fought forest fires and floods, built roads, trails and campgrounds, and planted trees to check soil erosion.
