The Galveston Seawall was constructed as a barrier to protect the island of Galveston after the Storm of 1900 destroyed most of Galveston. The seawall is over ten miles long, it runs from the far east end of the Island (East Beach or Fort San Jacinto) to 108th Street. The Galveston Seawall is on the National Resister of Historic Places (NRHP) and an American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Landmark.
