The Lyric Theatre isn’t closing the curtains on a program after thieves stole a trailer containing costumes, sets and other equipment needed to put on shows for children.
Video transcript (my own):
Crooks robbed the Lyric Theater of some very important equipment...
a trailer (similar to this one, shown in video)
"We have a trailer that allows us to travel with our costumes and our set and our PA system and our keyboard. Almost $15,000 to $20,000 worth."
The Lyric Theatre isn't closing the curtains on the program those items were used for.
"And take it to elementary schools, primarily, and really show them that musicals reflect life and reflect history and can teach citizenship and civic behavior."
Instead, the Lyric Theatre is improvising, borrowing from its academy.
"Within 24 hours, we got enough equipment, sets and costumes. They had a performance at 9 a.m. this morning in the panhandle."
The show must go on no matter what.
"And we try our best to make sure that we go on and then the school children across Oklahoma don't suffer because of it."
The non-profit theatre group isn't offering money for the trailer's return but it will give tickets to a show.
