In the north wall of the Caldera there is a cave village from prehispanic times. The so-called Cuevas de Bandama (also known as Cuevas de los Canarios) essentially consist of a storage silo with adjoining caves. These were equipped by the Canarian natives, the Guanches, with stairs, chambers, windows and corridors and thus developed into a cave settlement.
