Named for Ygnacio Garcia, a notable Wickenburg businessman who donated the property, this one room schoolhouse served as Wickenburg's first brick public school. Built on a budget of $1600, this building replaced an earlier wooden structure that had been transported from the Vulture mine. Schools of this design were common in territorial Arizona but the Garcia school is the best example of the two remaining buildings. As modern schools were built this building was used as a library and for storage. Damaged in a fire in 1978, it was rebuilt in 1984 and used as a branch of the Community Bank of Arizona until 2003. At that point it was donated back to the town and used as a history museum and by the Chamber of Commerce for musical performances. Although it has minor alterations and repairs over the years it substantially is the same as when it was built.
