VFW Post 3656 maintains a war memorial area east of its building which has on display numerous pieces of military equipment, and dedications.

Wikipedia has a write-up on the M1 75mm Howitzer which includes the following: " The 75mm Pack Howitzer M1 (redesignated the M116 in 1962) was an artillery piece used by the United States. It was designed in the 1920s to meet a need for a howitzer that could be moved across difficult terrain. The gun and carriage was designed so that it could be broken down into several pieces to be carried by pack animals. The gun saw combat in World War II with the US Army and US Marine Corps and was also supplied to foreign forces."

This display is dedicated to 1st Lt. Robert F. Trigalet, U.S.M.C. Trigalet The marble monument reads:

This 75 MM Howitzer is a memorial to
1st Lt. Robert F. Trigalet, U.S.M.C.
the first Marine from Bristow who gave
his life for God and Country in the
Vietnam Conflict. (Died May 2, 1969)
