The VFW War Memorial is a large area which has numerous pieces of military equipment on display, as well as being the site of the
National Wake Island Memorial. It is located at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Wildflower Run on the west side of Bristow.
This Corporal missile is standing vertically atop a brick pedestal. The Corporal missile was developed and operational during the 1950's. It has a 30 inch diameter and a range of 30 to 75 miles. It required extensive set-up taking 8 to 9 hours. It remained in service until June 1964. Though the Corporal had its drawbacks, it was the U. S. Army's introduction into the technological age of warfare, and is considered "The embryo of the Army missile program."
"U.S.Army Corporal Missile"
This missile is dedicated to Cpl. Larry E. Caldwell, U.S. Army, killed in action March 18, 1970 in Tam Ky Vietnam.
