Besides providing a place for hunters, bicylists, hikers and birders, the Salt Lake WMA also contains three lakes providing plenty of opportunity for fisherpeople to fish to their heart's content. The lakes, Ruth, Loughman, Salt and South Lake, contain a higher salinity level than other local waterways and because of this, the park has a very high level of birds to watch. Seabirds as well as land birds make stops at this WMA.
An old orange orchard and the remains of an old ranch are the main attractions on two of the hiking trails. Those who wish to make a picnic on their visit can find picnic facilities near the Dairy Road entrance but restroom facilities are found at the main entrance at Pacers Landing and Arch Road.
