FR Le beffroi, construit sur une porte de la deuxième enceinte de remparts qui avait perdu son rôle défensif après la construction de la troisième enceinte, date de 1541.Il est surmonté d’un campanile dont le clocheton sert de support à une croix. Sous cette croix, ,on pouvait distinguer autrefois un ornement qui évoquait la forme d’un insecte.
Les Anciens s’amusaient à dire que c’était une « barbarota », c’est- à- dire un charançon qui s’installait dans les greniers ; sa présence symbolique au sommet du clocher était sensée protéger les récoltes de céréales. « Quand la barbarota es au clochier, es pas dins lo grenier ! »
Le cadran de l'horloge est blanc avec des aiguilles et des chiffres romains noirs. Des points, noirs également, symbolisent les minutes.
EN The belfry, built on a door of the second wall, which had lost its defensive role after the construction of the third wall, dates from 1541 and is surmounted by a bell tower whose bell tower serves as a support for a cross. Under this cross, ,an ornament could be seen in the past that evoked the shape of an insect. The Ancients used to say that it was a "barbarota", i. e. a weevil that settled in the attics; its symbolic presence at the top of the bell tower was supposed to protect the cereal crops. "When the barbarians are in the bell tower, are not in the attic! »
The clock dial is white with black Roman hands and numerals. Dotts, also black, symbolize the minutes.
