Bring your canoe or kayak and if you don't have either, rent one at the Salt Springs Marina which is located in the Ocala National Forest. Powerboats are not permitted in the springs area so you can enjoy floating around at your leisure, as you note the wildlife typical of this area, including alligators and sea otters. There is a $5 parking fee so if you plan to spend the day, be prepared for that. From the website (visit link) : "Situated near the beginning of Salt Springs Run, the Salt Springs Marina is a full service marina with a boat ramp, bait and tackle, and rentals of canoes and boats for those wanting to fish or simply enjoy the placid waters of Salt Springs Run, which flows out into Lake George near Drayton Island."
