The Loftus Hotel was constructed in 1896 and named after the original name of the town. The Federation Free Classical style hotel with contrasting brick and stucco to the walls has a full length verandah with a balcony to the first floor supported by cast iron posts. When opened there were several sitting rooms and two dining rooms, the hotel also boasted of being one of the few country hotels with flushing toilets
