This amphitheater is located on the west side of Bristow in Klingensmith Park This park was developed between 1935 and 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), National Youth Administration (NYA), and the Works Progress Administration (WPA), under the New Deal during the Depression, and the amphitheater was part of this project.
The amphitheater is a one-story, flat-roofed, wooden structure with stucco finish, with a stone foundation. Five foot high pediments rise from the roof, with a shed roof canopy across the front. The concrete stage is 43 x 44 ft. and is built 6 ft. off ground level. There is an enormous amount of seating. We counted 45 rows, with seating for 60 across each row. The seats are concrete, and cedar trees are planted around the seating area. The amphitheater was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
