C’est l’une des plus anciennes de la cité puisqu’elle date de 1788. C’est même avec la fontaine du Dauphin, près de la cathédrale, la dernière fontaine publique existante de la ville fortifiée.
Nos aïeuls venaient s’y approvisionner en eau pour leurs besoins quotidiens, l’eau courante est en effet une invention assez récente. "
