The Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library is in its third - and most spacious - home since its 1894 origins. The newest facility is in the Stillwater Mill Redevelopment Zone along the Clear River at 100 Tinkham Lane in Harrisville section of Burrillville.

Burrillville has been enriched by the existence of the Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library for over one hundred years. The first iteration was a room on the second floor of a commercial building block in 1906, the project funded by Mary E. Smith's endowment in memory of her late husband. That block was razed three decades later and a dedicated library built in 1935. The community out grew that and undertook additions and renovations in 1944 and 1992. The current 24,000 square foot location at 100 Tinkham Lane in the mill village of Harrisville, opened to the public in 2008.
It is a member of the
Ocean State Libraries consortium. As a member of OSL, which serves the Rhode Island community by sharing materials, services, and electronic resources, library card holders may check out and return books from and to here and any other OSL member institution in the state.
