The main entrance to the Berlin Cathedral is guarded by statues of the Four Evangelists, which are the authors attributed with the creation of the four Gospel accounts in the New Testament.

On the southern side of the stairs, there is a bronze sculpture, showing the Evangelists Luke and John.

Luke was a doctor who wrote what is now the book of Luke to Theophilus. He also wrote the book of Acts.

John was a disciple of Jesus. He was the youngest of his Twelve Apostles.
