Nooitgedacht is a mill on the Noordeinde in Spijkenisse, next to the old pumping station "De Leeuw van Putten".
t is a round brick shelving mill, which replaced a burnt wooden, eight-sided topper. Until recently it was assumed that it came from 1844, but recent architectural research has shown that the mill from 1844 was demolished in 1860 to make way for the current mill. The mill was in use until about 1960 and was restored in 1972-1973. After a restoration in 2000, the mill runs regularly again. At the bottom of the mill, a pet specialist shop was established until 2009. In 2009 a major renovation started, with the mill being raised by seven meters, so that the municipality can realize its construction plans in the immediate vicinity without impeding the windfall. The National Service for Archeology, Cultural Landscape and Monuments thinks this increase is too great and Nooitgedacht may lose the status of a National Monument. The renovation was completed in 2010 and there is now a pancake restaurant in the mill. The restaurant is called Pannenkoek de Molen. According to the menu, the pancakes are baked with flour that has been ground by the mill itself. Source Wikipedia
