HOYT THOMAS FUNERAL HOME
Farthest away from the hwy as one can get, is an elaborate entrance wall and arch with text.
Text: The Creek Indians had an encampment on this sport, surrounding a fresh water spring.
The Joseph Chambers family built a log home nearby in the late 1700's and used the south plot as a family burying ground.
The plot was donated by the family to the new town in 1883. For one hundred twenty five years it was called, "Chambers Burying Grounds." Later it was called "City Cemetery," and in recent years "Hill Crest Cemetery."
The Villa Rica Garden Club has landscaped and maintained the area since 1936 under the sponsorship of the City Mayor and Council.
Second Plaque: Acknowledging all who have worked and given to the maintenance of this cemetery throughout the years, the Villa Rica Garden Club dedicated this entrance to honor loved ones who have gone before us and to the love and grace of God, which will rejoin us all one day for eternity.
