The Great Eastern Storehouse was the main warehouse for the British Navy when the Dockyard in Bermuda was a major naval base in the western North Atlantic Ocean. When the British abandoned the naval base in 1995 the structure was converted into a shopping mall. A sign to the right of the main entrance to the Clocktower Mall recounts the history of the Great Eastern Storehouse and the details of the clock towers. The sign is inscribed:

The Great Eastern Storehouse, now known as the
"Clocktower Mall", was the naval store for such
things as sails, oars, shot stoppers, rigging, etc.
Commissioner, later Captain-in-Charge of the
Dockyard. The walls are 3 feet thick and the towers
are 100 feet tall. The southern tower has a clock
with four faces, known to the Dockyard workers as
"the four-faced," as each face gave a slightly
different time. Of course quitting time was always
based on the most advanced dial. The clock itself
was made in 1856 by John Moore & Sons,
Clerkenwell, London, and is on display at the
National Museum. the dial on the eastern side of
the northern tower had a single hand, which was
set daily for the time of high tide to within
the nearest fifteen minutes.
