About the Pub
Popular and lively local pub in the centre of the village. The Bridge has been refurbished but retains its friendly atmosphere and continues to serve an excellent pint. A stout, porter or dark mild ale is usually amongst the beers. It offers occasional live music, wide screen TV and pool table. In 1897, after the Snaefell mining disaster in which 20 men perished, the cellar area was used as a temporary morgue. There are rumours of a resident ghost.

"The Bridge Inn, Laxey
The Bridge Inn was originally a small whitewashed house which was englarged and re-fronted in 1905. It had a licence at least as early as 1857 with John Shimmin as Landlord. John James Scarffe held the licence in 1880.
It was totally refurbished under new management in early 1994, when a restaurant was opened upstairs. It is likely, as often is the case, that the cellars of this inn were used as a mortuary. In the early 1800s licensees were bound by law to take in any corpses, due to the cool conditions of their cellars."
