The 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas commemorated the Leon County Art Trail and designated Jewett as the Sculpture Capital of Texas, H.C.R. No. 41 on May 25, 2013.

The Leon County Art Trail is sponsored b the Jewett Economic Development Corporation. The City of Jewett is committed to the cultural enrichment of the community and celebrates the creative spirit of Texas artists.

The welcome sign with the metal flower arrangement is in celebration of this city's designation as "Sculpture Capital of Texas".
