This plaque was erected by the Congregation of Christ Church Cathedral in memory of Sarah Maxwell who, while attempting to save her pupils, died in the fire that destroyed the school of which she was the principal.

Text of the plaque:
Erected by the Congregation of Christ Church Cathedral, in memory of Sarah Maxwell Principal of the Hochelaga School who gave her life in a noble attempt to save the pupils at the destruction of the building by fire on Feb. 26, 1907.
The cathedral is opened during the week and week-ends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
