The
DowntownTX website is a great resource in providing some background, as the National Register's Nomination Form says little other than noting this one as a contributor. It probably replaced whatever was there before the Great Fire of 1916, and past occupants included D.H. Baker Furniture (as of 1921) and Kenneth D. Marshall's Toy & Sporting Goods (as of 1959). It also served as a theater theater during the days of Camp Maxey, and was later used as a hair cutting facility and "training concern."
Note the missing second floor and roof: 107 takes advantage of this to give their place a literal open-air feel.
