Located on the north side of the Caloosahatchee River at the US Army Corp of Engineers Ortona Lock and Dam is a USACOE survey marker.

To find this marker you need to go to the north-side of the lock. Take State Road 78 east of LaBelle or west of Moore Haven to Ortona Road turn south on Ortona Road. Go to the sign for the lock and dam and turn east on Lock Lane. Proceed east to the gate of the COE facility, there is a sign indicating authorized vehicles only. Park in the small parking lot on the left side of the road. Foot traffic is allowed beyond this point. Walk east north east along the paved road until it ends and becomes a grass road. Continue about a 10th of a mile to the corner of a fence on your left. There is a low area off of the raised embankment. About 30 to 40 feet north of the embankment along the fence line is a white witness post, at its base is a concrete monument with the brass survey marker.
