The Petroglyph National Monument contains thousands of petroglyphs - carvings in the black volcanic stone in the West Mesa of the Santa Fe Formation created by the ancestors of today's Pueblo Indians. Many can be viewed from trails that cross through the Monument. This "You Are Here" sign is at the beginning of the Rinconada Canyon Petroglyph Trail.
