Het Coumans kruis in Genhout.
Zinloze vernieling.
Het was half april 2013 toen Wim Heuser van de werkgroep kruisen en Kapellen in Beek contact met me opnam om te vragen
of ik een gietijzeren kruis in voorraad had, of dat ik iemand wist die dit vernielde kruis kon repareren. Hij had er een nodig voor in Groot Genhout.
Daar was vóór 15 april een gietijzeren kruis totaal vernield in 48 stukken.( zie foto). Ik nam contact op met Wiel Erven uit Kunrade
en we besloten om samen te gaan kijken Toen we de resten van het kruis zagen en wat er van over was,
konden we niets begrijpen van deze zinloze vernieling. Mevrouw Coumans en de familie was hevig ontdaan over deze vernieling.
Familie Coumans.
Het kruis was eigendom van de familie Martin Coumans en Nelly Bons, wonende in de nabijheid van het kruis.
Ze hadden het kruis geplaatst in 1986 uit dankbaarheid dat hun enige dochter Thea, toen 19 jaar oud, vele zware oog operaties
redelijk goed had doorstaan. Als 13 maanden oude baby openbaarde zich een verschrikkelijke oogziekte bij haar. Ze onderging
verschillende operaties in het ziekenhuiste Nijmegen. In 1997-2007-2011 kreeg ze nog eens drie oogtransplantaties.
Plaatsing kruis.
In 1986 plaatste de familie Coumans het kruis. Steenhouwer Bröls uit Beek zorgde voor een passende steen met de initialen
MC 1986 NB erin. Pastoor van Oss, die ook voor het kruis gezorgd had dat afkomstig was van het kerkhof te Bunde, zegende het kruis in.
Er werden twee bomen bijgeplaatst zodat het plaatje compleet was en de familie Coumans grote voldoening had en trots
was op dit mooie kruis. Martin Coumans overleed op 68 jarige leeftijd in 2006.
Reparatie.
Wiel Erven had de diverse stukken bekeken en kwam tot de conclusie dat dit vermoedelijk nog te repareren viel.
Hij werkte 4 dagen eraan om alles weer netjes op zijn plek te krijgen, verfde het en maakte er een nieuwe steun aan.
Het resultaat mag er zijn, het ziet er weer piekfijn uit. Weer zo'n stukje vakmanschap van Wiel Erven.
Op 14 mei 2013 hebben Wiel Erven en Chris Willems het kruis herplaatst, dit tot grote vreugde en dankbaarheid van de familie Coumans

The Coumans cross in Genhout.
Senseless destruction.
It was mid April 2013 when Wim Heuser of the workgroup crossed and Kapellen in Beek contacted me to ask
if I had a cast iron cross in stock, or if I knew someone who could repair this destroyed cross. He needed one in Groot Genhout.
There, before 15 April, a cast-iron cross was totally destroyed in 48 pieces (see photo). I contacted Wiel Erven from Kunrade
and we decided to go and look together When we saw the remains of the cross and what was left of it,
we could not understand anything about this senseless destruction. Mrs. Coumans and the family were deeply upset about this destruction.
Family Coumans.
The cross was owned by the family Martin Coumans and Nelly Bons, living in the vicinity of the cross.
They had placed the cross in 1986 in gratitude that their only daughter Thea, then 19 years old, had many heavy eye operations
had passed reasonably well. As a 13-month-old baby, a terrible eye disease was revealed to her. She underwent
various operations in the hospital Nijmegen. In 1997-2007-2011 she received another three eye transplants.
Placement cross.
In 1986 the Coumans family placed the cross. Steenhouwer Bröls from Beek provided a matching stone with the initials
MC 1986 NB in ??it. Pastoor van Oss, who had also taken care of the cross that came from the cemetery in Bunde, blessed the cross.
Two trees were added so that the picture was complete and the Coumans family had great satisfaction and pride
was on this beautiful cross. Martin Coumans died at the age of 68 in 2006.
Repair.
Wiel Erven had looked at the various items and came to the conclusion that this could probably still be repaired.
He worked 4 days to get everything neatly in place again, painted it and made a new support.
The result may be there, it looks very nice again. Another piece of craftsmanship by Wiel Erven.
On 14 May 2013, Wiel Erven and Chris Willems replaced the cross, to the great joy and gratitude of the Coumans family
