The Jefferson Apartment Building is architecturally significant as a representative of the architecture of early 20th century apartment buildings for middle and upper income residents. It is historically significant for its association with prominent Niagara Falls residents who were tenants in the building for a period of nearly 80 years. The Jefferson is the city's sole example of a high-rise full service early 20th century apartment building. While this building type was common in other cities, the depression stopped this type of construction leaving Niagara Falls with this single example built in 1926.
