[GER] Im Hamburger Hauptbahnhof befindet sich dieser unterirdische Nordstern. Will man von den Fernzügen über die Wandelhalle zu den U-Bahnen U1 und U3 am Hauptbahnhof Süd kommen so passiert man diesen Nordstern. Umgekehrt natürlich auch. Täglich kommen hier mehrere 10.000 Fahrgäste vorbei. Die wenigsten würdigen den Nordstern eines Blickes. Viele treten ihn mit den Füßen.
Der Stern ist in Schwarz und Weiß gehalten. Er hat lange Strahlen für die Haupthimmelsrichtungen N, O, S und W und kürzere Strahlen die Zwischenrichtungen wie NO, SO, SW, NW. Die Fläche des Nordsterns beträgt ca. 2x2m.
[ENG] This underground Compass Rose is located at Hamburg Central Station. If you want to get from the long-distance trains via the Wandelhalle to the subways U1 and U3 at Hauptbahnhof Süd, you have to pass this Compass Rose. The other way round, of course also. Every day, several 10.000 passengers pass by here. Very few people appreciate the Compass Rose. Many kick it with their feet.
The Compass Rose is kept in black and white. It has long beams for the main cardinal directions N, E, S and W and shorter beams for the intermediate directions NE, SE, SW, NW. The area of the northern star is about 2x2m.
