This clock tower is found on the Gaebe Commons green space of the Downcity Campus of Johnson & Wales University in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island, and dedicated to the memory of Rhode Island's 64th governor, Christopher Del Sesto.
The construction is three-sided. A red-brick base about 25 feet tall consists of three triangular columns, joined by solid walls about two-thirds of the way up. Each side is approximately 15 feet wide. A four-foot diameter JWU seal is embedded among red brick pavers at ground level in the center of the footings.
Narrower than the base, a white scaffold-like framework rises about another 50 feet. Identical white circular clock faces with Roman numerals and gold rims are on each side within the sixth of seven tiers. Those are mounted by a green armature with plates around the scaffold poles.
Topping each vertical member are a pair of the plates and a silver orb with rings and a diminutive spire. The centered pinnacle of the seventh tier has a larger identical orb and green plates.
Basically, the bottom is a typical New England collegiate style of brick and the top has a mid-century Atomic Age vibe.
There are three megaphone speakers mounted below the clock faces and within the white supports.
