This Taco Bell restaurant is on the south side of 33rd, east of Broadway. It is a very busy location and near many other fast-food establishments. The drive-thru entrance is on the south side, and main entrance to the lobby on the west.

A man is arrested by The Village police, then manages to escape from the back of their squad car and ends up at a Taco Bell in Edmond.

Taco Bell employees called police because the suspect was still in hand cuffs.

Twenty-six-year-old Mario Martinez ordered food from the Taco Bell at 33rd and Broadway, and even sat down and began to eat before police showed up.

His face was still bloody and bruised, and handcuffs were still in-tact.

Martinez didn't think twice about stopping for a bite to eat at the Edmond Taco Bell just hours after his arrest in The Village.

"Obviously, it's not their usual customer," said Jenny Monroe, Edmond PD.

It was around 10 a.m. Tuesday when police were called to the fast food restaurant. Employees tell News 9, something wasn't right.

"It looked like he had been scuffed up, maybe he had been in a fight or something, and so they were just concerned," Monroe said.

According to The Village police, this all started as a disturbance at a home in the 1800 block of Oxford Way. The person who rents this home says Martinez was an uninvited guest.

Neighbors say they heard at least one gunshot before police surrounded the home early Tuesday morning.

When police arrived, Martinez was standing in the front yard, but resisted arrest, and tried to fight officers. Police say Martinez hit an officer, and had to be tazed before being placed in the back of a police car.

But, minutes later Martinez was gone. Police believe he managed to escape from a back window.

Now they're trying to figure out how he got to Edmond.

"As soon as our officers went into the restaurant, he jumped up, ran out," said Monroe.

There was a short foot pursuit north of 33rd, but Martinez eventually surrendered.

"As soon as he surrendered to our officers, he went ahead and volunteered that he had been detained earlier that evening by The Village Police Dept.," said Monroe.

Martinez is facing a number of charges which include assault and battery on an officer, and escape from an officer. Other charges include obstructing a police officer, and possession of marijuana.

Edmond police will file out of custody charges of resisting arrest.
