The town of Oilton was first settled in 1915, after the discovery of oil in the nearby Cushing-Drumright Oilfield. The town exploded in population within weeks, and by 1920, 2230 people called it home. In 2015, the town celebrated their 100th anniversary and set this time capsule in the City Park.

The marker is a gray granite slab engraved with an oil derrick and the words:

Time Capsule
1915 - 2015
To be opened in 2040
