The sandstone monument dedicated to 26 fallen fellow-citizens who died on battlefields of the Great War (WW I 1914-1918) can be found in the center of the village Meník near Nový Bydžov (East Bohemia). The statue on the top of the monument depicts a dying, almost naked soldier who hold a broken sword in his right hand and a bird of prey (eagle) ios sitting on his chest. At the front of the pedestal there is a black marble plaque with picture of the first Czechoslovakia president T.G. Masaryk.
