Thelma Louise Smith Cullimore, a resident of Klamath Falls, Ore., died on Dec. 5, 2017, at the age of 100.
Thelma was born in the Algoma area of Klamath County on July 15, 1917, to Heber C. and Clara B. (Uhrine) Smith. Her parents settled in Klamath County in 1914 and worked in the lumber industry.
As a young girl, Thelma attended school at Pelican, Fremont and Klamath Union High School. She was an avid basketball player and enjoyed dancing.
When she was 21, she traveled to New York City to marry A. Earl Cullimore on Jan. 28, 1938, and soon after that moved back to Klamath Falls. Their only daughter, Judy, was born in 1941. The family lived their whole lives in Klamath Falls, except for a two-year period during World War II when Earl worked a wartime job in a tire factory in Los Angeles, Calif. Earl preceded Thelma in death in 1998 after 60 years of marriage. Thelma held several jobs over the years, but particularly enjoyed her work at the Oregon Institute of Technology Library and Bookstore. She also enjoyed all kinds of hand crafts. She crocheted afghans, sewed hundreds of counted cross-stitch greeting cards, painted ceramics and even poured plastic grapes. She loved her family and enjoyed doting on them and participating in all manner of family events. In the past few years, she enjoyed reminiscing and hearing new stories about them. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lucille Josephson, and a brother, Bud Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Ives; five grandchildren and spouses, Michael and Glenda Ives of Spokane, Wash., Steven Ives, David and Heather Ives of Niceville, Fla., Denise and Camille Ives of Northampton, Mass., and Jennifer and Allen Givens of Spokane; and 13 great-grandchildren and their spouses, Crystal and Joel Tallman, Tyler and Laura Ives, Michaela Ives, Jacob and Abby Ives, Rachel Ives, Rebecca Ives, Leah Ives, Lizzie Ives, Ammon Ives, Joshua Givens, Sam Givens, Adam Ives, and Alex Ives.
