Le 7 décembre 1998, le vol 501 d'Air Satellite a décollé de l'aéroport de Baie-Comeau pour se rendre à l'aéroport de Mont-Joli, (Rimouski) de l'autre côté du fleuve Saint-Laurent, avec un pilote, une copilote et 8 passagers à son bord. Peu après le décollage, le pilote a perdu le contrôle de l'avion et a tenté de faire demi-tour. Cependant, l'avion a plongé et s'est écrasé dans la rivière à environ 500 mètres du rivage. La marée montait à ce moment-là et l'avion s'est écrasé dans environ 2 pieds d'eau. Cependant, en raison d’un retard dans l’aide, l’appareil est bientôt presque entièrement recouvert d’eau. Le pilote et 2 passagers ont survécu à l'écrasement. Sept vies ont été perdues.
On December 7,1998, Air Satellite flight 501 took off from the Baie-Comeau airport for a flight to the Mont-Joli (Rimouski) airport across the St.Lawrence River with a pilot, co-pilot and 8 passengers on board. Shortly after take-off the pilot lost control of the aircraft and tried to turn back. However the plane dipped and crashed into the river about 500 metres off shore. The tide was incoming at the time and the plane crashed in about 2 feet of water. However, due to a delay in help arising the plane was soon almost completely covered in water. The pilot and 2 passengers survived the crashed. Seven lives were lost.
