En 1960, le réalisateur Jean Giono tourne Cresus, avec Fernandel comme acteur principal. Le film raconte l'histoire, en 1946, d'un pauvre berger qui découvre sur le plateau désertique du Contadour, une bombe de la Seconde guerre mondiale. Il s'aperçoit bientôt que l'engin est rempli de billets de banque...
Devenu subitement « Crésus » (très riche en patois), mais épouvanté par cette fortune colossale, il va chercher par tous les moyens à se débarrasser de cet argent.
Le lieu
le film a été tournée sur le versant sud de la montagne de Lure au Redortiers, près de Banon. Derrière l'acteur, on voit un cairn en cours de construction. Son premier niveau est en cours de montage et un second est provisoirement posé pour atteindre le sommet. Ce cairn est connu sous le nom de "Sous-Pape"
L'acteur
Fernandel, aussi humoriste, chanteur et réalisateur, est alors au sommet de sa gloire, après son grand rôle de Don Camillo. Il tourne ici l'un des derniers des 159 films de sa carrière.

In 1960, director Jean Giono shot Cresus, with Fernandel as the main actor. The film tells the story, in 1946, of a poor shepherd who discovers a bomb from the Second World War on the desert plateau of Contadour. He soon realizes that the machine is full of banknotes...
Suddenly becoming "Croesus" (very rich in patois), but frightened by this colossal fortune, he will try by all means to get rid of this money.
The place
the film was shot on the southern slope of the mountain of Lure au Redortiers, near Banon. Behind the actor, we see a cairn under construction. Its first level is being assembled and a second one is temporarily installed to reach the top.
The actor
Fernandel, also a comedian, singer and director, was at the height of his fame, after his great role as Don Camillo. He shoots here one of the last of the 159 films of his career.
