Children's Memorial park is a large, well-appointed park with play areas, pavilions, and walking trails. The Children’s Memorial Plaza, set off from the more active areas of the park, provides an opportunity for quiet reflection to remember children who have died. The memorial consists of granite tablets on which the names of children are engraved. Part of the memorial is a sculpture, The Magic Carpet, depicting a child riding a magic carpet. This sculpture is the centerpiece of an expanded memorial wall and garden. The base of the sculpture includes the text of a poem by the same name by Connie Thomason, written in 2001 (link).
