In 2013, the Shaker Mill (known locally for generations as The Barn) and adjacent building were purchased by a long-time Berkshire bookseller. The newer building (a single-story green structure) houses an extensive collection of used, rare and out-of-print books. And the venerable old mill...features unusual books and book-related art, whimsically displayed where once there were millstones and grain bins and flour sacks.

Poking around West Stockbridge during an afternoon and visited several intriguing shops within the couple of surrounding blocks. This store holds a fascinating variety of books: from discounted paperbacks at a few dollars; tremendously sized 500-hundred page art tomes (by the likes of Annie Leibovitz and David Hockney) that, when open, are three feet tall and five feet wide, come with custom floor stands and have a four-figure price tag; and precious rare old books. Tall and narrow art prints of classic book spines from high-definition photographs are also on display and stood out during my visit.
